Biography
Philipp Hackländer bridges the worlds of strategic consulting, technology entrepreneurship, and intellectual capital valuation.
He worked over four years at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants, where he led complex projects in restructuring, post-merger integration, and operational excellence. As a Senior Consultant and Project Leader at Roland Berger, he also collaborated on projects with other top-tier consulting firms, including Kearney, Porsche Consulting, Tsetinis Consulting, and Publicis Sapient. As a freelance consultant and interim manager, he has since delivered results for Volkswagen Group (leading the Semiconductor Taskforce during the global chip crisis), ZF Industries, BoschSiemens, and Viessmann.
Beyond consulting, Philipp brings hands-on entrepreneurial experience. As co-founder, CFO, and COO of Datavirtuality—a data virtualisation startup recognised by Gartner as a "Cool Vendor"—he helped scale one of the fastest-growing analytics companies, securing funding, building operational infrastructure, and navigating the high-velocity environment of Silicon Valley.
This combination of strategic rigour and startup agility makes him uniquely positioned to help organisations navigate the intersection of Digital Transformation, AI implementation, and Intellectual Capital valuation. At AREOPA, Philipp focuses on three interconnected challenges:
- Digital Transformation & PMO: Leading complex change initiatives that require both strategic vision and hands-on execution—from data strategy to process redesign.
- AI Ecosystem Navigation: Helping research institutions and SMEs identify the right AI implementation partners, scope projects effectively, and access EU funding opportunities that can accelerate adoption.
- Intellectual Capital & Innovation: Working with Maria Weir and Volker Wiedemann to help organisations understand, document, and monetise their intangible assets—the hidden value in people, processes, partnerships, and proprietary knowledge.
His passion lies in analysing and optimising complex systems—whether technological, organisational, or strategic. He believes that sustainable success requires not just smart strategy, but also the right people, the right tools, and the discipline to execute.
